Default Should I be worried?

Today I came home and went to my e-mail, I saw that I had one from NCsoft support and it said my Aion Game account has been reset (Password). I have never set up or played Aion, nor was my NCSOFT account set for this email.

Phishing email. Most likely the link in it is similar to the ncsoft one but has an extra S or something.

Dawg, just simply opening an email cannot hack you, running an unknown exe or DL'ing an attachment can.

As long as your antivirus program is good, and you are pedantic about keeping it up to date, you won't generally have a great deal to worry about as far as virii are concerned. I have not ever had a successful attack, in over 20 years of computing, so it's safe to say, play it safe and safe you'll be.

One word of warning that I see quite a bit and am not in the least remorseful for repeating:

Make sure you have two email accounts. The email account given to you by your isp, this address you give to no one you don't trust not to pass it on in stupid chain emails, etc.
The second of course, is any nfty online freeby Hotmail type junk. This is the one you use for people you know will give it out like morons, and for other stuff you don't want near you without you choosing it to be.

Keep it like that and I promise you that you'll never regret it.

Turbo.

Ah yes, the old trusty scripts.. If you're going to run them, which is silly anyway and something I've never done, then make bloody well sure that you only allow them from trusted sites.

I can't agree strenuously enough though with what Theocrat just said. Just don't run em. Problem solved.

No, you shouldn't worry. Hackers are just getting desperate. The person who sent you the email is most likely just sending random e-mails out to anyone with an email that has ever been used on the internet somewhere, could have been a wiki or a game forum, or anything. Or it could have just been blindly random.

No... What barrage said, you cannot get a hack/virus from opening an e-mail, just being stupid and opening an attachment can. If you could get hacked opening an e-mail (plain text) then it would be just as easy for me to type "hack" in a thread here and hack all of your game accounts.....

This x1000. Just leave the attachment alone and delete the message and move on.

As others have said, contact NCSoft and let them know (give them information about it I suppose), delete it, and move on. Nothing to worry about.
